American Nurses Association talks about Nursing shortages

American Nurses association the largest nursing organization in the US talks about Nursing shortages and indicators; they state that The nation is facing an impending shortage of nurses, which is expected to peak by 2020. The most important prime indicator that they point out is the nursing population is aging rapidly. They discuss the aging of nurses over the next two decades for more information.

The United States Dept of Labor- bureau of labor statistics website shows The 10 industries with the largest wage and salary employment growth, 2008-18. It shows Home Health Care Services as increase from 958 in 2008 to 1,399 in 2018 which is a 46.1% percent increase. And Nursing Care Facilities at an increase from 1,614 in 2008 to 2,007 in 2018 which is a 24.4% percent increase.

Hospital Nurse Staffing and Quality of Care

The U.S. department of Health and Human Services did a study on the Adverse Effects of shortage of nurse staffing. Its research showed that Hospitals with low nurse staffing levels tend to have higher rates of poor patient outcomes such as pneumonia, shock, cardiac arrest, and urinary tract infections, according to research funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Nurse staffing is measured in one of two basic ways: Nursing hours per patient per day & the nurse to patient ratio. CNN money offers a great site with information on the top 20 jobs for parents returning to work. It talks about the Total Compensation, Job growth, Flexibility and Family Friendly aspects which are important for all parents returning to work in any job market. Its top 5 pick was an Executive Recruiter its states the median pay to be 77,000 and job growth at 30% it also gives a brief career description and what education is required. 30 occupations with the largest employment growth

The Untied States Bureau of Labor Statistics had an Economic News release on The 30 occupations with the largest employment growth, 2008-18. Its number one listing was for Occupation was Registered Nurses in the Professional and related occupations stating that in employment in 2008-it was 2,619 and in 2018 it would be 3,200 which is a 22.2% percent increase.
